The monastery is at an altitude of 130 metres from sea level
St. Ephraim of Mount Amomon is world famous for his healing powers
Many sick people visit this monastery & some abandon crutches to show they were healed.

BEFORE THE RUN

Mountain Goat, Fair Cop, visitors Candyfloss & Smuttars, Wet Dream

Some hashers were away this weekend and others stayed away because of the bad weather.
Shame because there were some great views on this run and the rain held off during the run.

THE TAVERNA

(The Serifis in Paleo Pendeli)

We had 1 kilo of roast suckling pig, plates of roast chicken and kondosouvli
plus salad, starters, 3 plates of chips, lots of beer and wine for 15 euros each.
(Five of us and we couldn't eat it all!!)

THE DIRECTIONS TO THE RUN
(Slightly modified)

Coming from Athens
Get on Leof Pendelis (the road which goes up to Pendeli Village)
Ignore signs left to NEA Pendeli on the road up to Pendeli
Eventually you come to (Paleio) Pendeli village
Follow the road through the village.
(do not take the first few turnings to the right)
Eventually you will come to a large open area
(many tavernas here - particularly on the far side)
Look for a road (Skoufou) to the right signposted to Nea Makri
Follow this road out of the village
You are now on the mountain road to Aghios Petros (and Nea Makri)
Eventually you will reach a T-junction at the Panorama restaurant at Aghios Petros.
Turn right and follow the road down the mountain towards Nea Makri for 5.7 km.
You will eventually come to a very sharp (180 degree) left-hand bend.
At the peak of this bend you turn right (at the sign to the St Ephraim Monastery)
Follow the road to the monastery & the HHH signs for 1 km.
 
Coming from Ekali etc.
Take the Dionysos - Nea Makri Road
Pass the Dionysos Taverna, German Cemetery etc
Continue straight towards Nea Makri.
From Aghios Petros (The Panorama restaurant) continue down the mountain for 5.7 km
You will eventually come to a very sharp  (180 degree) left-hand bend.
At the peak of this bend you turn right (at the sign to the St Ephraim Monastery)
Follow the road to the monastery & the HHH signs for 1 km.
 
Coming from along the coast road
At Nea Makri take the road going up the mountain signposted to Dionysos
In 2.2 km you will come to a very sharp (180 degree) right-hand bend. At the peak of this bend you turn left (at the sign to the St Ephraim Monastery)
Follow the road to the monastery & the HHH signs for 1 km.
If you come to Aghios Petros & the Panorama restaurant you have go way too far.
