ATHENS HASHERS DO THE MARDI GRAS IN GALVESTON, TEXAS

9th February 2016
The parade rolled through downtown Galveston in the final hours of the 2016 Mardi Gras celebration.
This all Krewe event featured 8 marching bands...
and the Krewe's of Aquarius, Gambrinus, Momus, Babalu, ZKrewe, Thalasar,
Lighthouse
NOTE: Galveston Mardi Gras is the 3rd largest Mardi Gras celebration in the USA (The largest, of course is in New Orleans)
The parade route on Galveston Island
The parade was in the downtown area (see yellow area on map above)
The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge (or causeway)...
and is 1 1/4 hour's drive from Sugar Land via the freeways and Interstate 45

The coffee house on Post Office street (Near intersection with Moody Avenue),,,
with good coffee and a good view of the parade
As the floats roll by, strings of beads are thrown out to the spectators
and the idea is that one catches as many as possible
